This site is the work of a small editorial collective that has been reviewing AI companion platforms since 2024. We are not a marketing operation. We do not run paid placements. We do not accept review samples, complimentary subscriptions, or pre-publication communication from the platforms we write about.
The reviewing landscape for this category, as it currently stands, is dominated by sites that are functionally affiliate aggregators dressed in editorial clothing. The scores are inflated, the methodologies are absent or vaguely gestured at, and the reader is rarely told what the relationship is between the publisher and the platform being reviewed. We started this site because we wanted somewhere we could send a friend.
How we are structured
Two editors run the reviews. A third person handles methodology audits and revenue separation. None of us is identified by name on the site, we have collectively chosen to be evaluated on the writing rather than the byline. We sign every piece as “the editorial team” and we mean it.
This is a deliberate trade-off. We accept that an anonymous byline carries less E-E-A-T weight than a named one. We do not accept that the standard solution to that trade-off, inventing or paying for a face, is honest.
What we publish
Long-form reviews of AI companion platforms, refreshed monthly. Each review is the product of at least sixteen hours of paid-subscription testing across two independent editors. We sit on each piece for at least forty-eight hours after the writing closes, then we publish it.
When a piece is wrong, we annotate the correction at the top of the page and we leave the original text intact below. We have never silently rewritten a review and we don’t intend to start.
How we are funded
Subscription costs come out of pocket from the editors. Server and domain costs are covered by affiliate revenue from links inserted after the editorial process closes. No score is adjusted to favour an affiliate-paying platform. If a platform we recommend does not have an affiliate program, we link to it directly without commission. If a platform we do not recommend does have a program, we do not link to it.
This is the most boring possible operating model. It is also, in our view, the only one that allows us to publish without lying.
